The Design Process

The following is a basic description of how I advance through the design process. Keep in mind that I asses each project separately, and this process will vary on a client-by-client basis.

Planning and Strategy

I begin each project by gathering as much information about your project as possible. In addition to discussing your budget and project specifications, I will also determine your unique preferences, design style, target audience and competitive environment. Often, this phase seems time consuming, but it is critical that I thoroughly research your project in order to develop a creative and an effective design strategy.

When I am certain that I fully understand your objectives, I will present you with a creative plan and a proposal. Once you sign off on this proposal, I will begin the required creative work.

Concept and Design

Depending on the complexity of your project, I will provide design mock ups two to three weeks after you approve the proposal. The mock ups include two different Photoshop design sets, each consisting of a home page and an interior page. Please let me know if you have a rush project. I will do my best to expedite the creative work, but keep in mind that this may result in additional fees.

To prevent costly mistakes and to keep your project moving forward, I ask that you delegate one person to communicate with me whenever possible. However, I also prefer that all key decision makers be present at all meetings and provide their input when I present mock-ups. Anything that comes up during meetings or design reviews that will affect your budget will be explained and provided in writing. After your team approves a final design, I will begin working on final art and programming.

Production and Development

Prior to launch, I will obtain approval on all final layouts and copy, program your website and complete all the remaining necessary tasks. Please remember that any major design or copy changes during this phase may result in additional charges and may affect your deadline.
